Easter tradition

Here's a picture from last year.  I can't find any digital copies from other years, darn it!

Egg hunting

Fresh start

Happy Easter!  Just got home from church and took the kids picture in front of the garden.  They worked hard on it all day yesterday with Daddy and we're ready to start planting.  Better late than never!

Lauren's dress is making me want some neapolitan ice cream.  Anyone with me?

Go forth and grow facial hair

While hugging Daddy goodnight, Owen asked him why he had a beard (actually just a goatee).  Adam said, "Because I grew one."  To which Lauren replied, "No, God gave it to you."

Short term memory

Lauren and I were just snuggling on the couch and I told her I couldn't believe she was going to be five years old next month.  I said, "I can remember when you were still in my belly."

"Not me, I don't remember when I was zero."

Mini Cooper

When the kids were in San Francisco earlier this week with my parents they were at Lauren's favorite hotel, one that has bay windows that over look the busy city streets.  Lauren was watching the cars and at one point said, "Hey, look, there's a gidget car!"

"A Gidget car?", my parents asked, probably wondering how she knew about a TV show older than her mother.

Lauren looked at them with her know-it-all face and replied, "Yeah, you know, for little people."

April showers bring May flowers early babies

*updated with a picture from Saturday

Last Saturday was my cousin Alisa's baby shower.  She's due with a girl on Lauren's birthday, May 13th.  But I just got a phone call that her water broke today and she had to have a C-section due to the baby being breech.  Mama and baby are doing fine, thank goodness.  Little Miss Lily weighs 4 pounds 8 ounces - which, coincidentally, is her birthday - 04/08!  Exactly 5 weeks early, to the day - she must have not wanted to miss out on an Easter basket this year!

Eighty!

Today is my grandpa's 80th birthday, and the whole family got together for a birthday lunch to celebrate.  Happy Birthday, Papa!

The oldest with the six youngest - all the way from 80 years down to 5 days old!

Who says dinos are extinct?

Owen just lined up his dinosaurs and Adam said, "Wow, that's a lot of dinosaurs."  So Owen proceeded to count them.

"One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, eleventeen, sixteen, eleventeen, nineteen, eleventeen, NINETEEN!"

A day for the history books*

Lauren is officially registered for kindergarten!  Where has the time gone?

* Or at least her baby book.

To think is to be

Owen's been potty trained for a while now, although I still put him in pull-ups when we leave the house - for my own sanity while running errands!  Today he decided he was too busy playing the Wii to take a break to use the bathroom - he was wearing a pull-up, thank goodness, not big boy undies.   I told him I wanted him to think about his decision not to use the toilet and sent him to his room.  I overheard him talking to himself: "I AM a big boy, not a baby.  Big boys play the Wii and I am a big boy.  I need to remember that."  And then he marched out to the living and told me, "Mama, I thinked about being a big boy and I am."
